Louisville (Ky.) Trinity running back Dalyn Dawkins tells 247Sports that Purdue is his leader following this past weekend’s official visit to West Lafayette.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Dawkins added that he plans on making his college decision on Monday morning and then announcing his commitment later that evening. Colorado State and Western Kentucky are also in the mix.
“I think they’re on top,” Dawkins said about Purdue. He took the trip to the Boilermakers campus with his father.
“I liked it a lot. I loved the campus. I met a lot of players on the team and I liked them, and of course I love the coaching staff, and I liked the city and I loved that they’re in the Big Ten. The education I’d receive from Purdue, I can’t fail no matter what.
Purdue coach Darrell Hazell and his coaching staff sees Dawkins really succeeding in their offense. A key part of Trinity’s last three state championships, he rushed for 1,479 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior while adding another 367 yards receiving and five scores. As a junior, Dawkins ran for 1,901 yards and 32 touchdowns.
“They want to use me in all types of different ways and be a dynamic player and great mismatch for defenses,” Dawkins recapped. “That’s what they see me as, that explosive playmaker.”
Besides the schools mentioned, Cincinnati and Illinois also offered Dawkins.
