Fort Wayne (Ind.) South Side cornerback Donovan Clark is the top cornerback in the state, and Purdue had him on campus for a junior day on Sunday.
“It was great,” Clark said. “They were really interested and should have an offer on the table shortly."
Indiana and Ball State have already extended scholarships to the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Clark. One from Purdue would definitely pique his interest.
“The new coaching staff, they really seemed to be trying to get after things,” Clark said. “Coach (Darrell) Hazell and his guys have a winning swag about themselves that I really liked.”
Clark picked up his offer from Ball State during a visit to the Muncie campus on Monday.
“This was really my first time being there,” Clark said. “I really liked the communication part of the education and the coaches were cool so it was a good time.”
Clark is scheduled to get back to Indiana on March 2. Other schools showing interest includes Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State.
As a junior, Clark had 23 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups. On offense, he rushed for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 143 carries, with another three passing scores and one receiving touchdown.
