Purdue spend the first evaluation period in St. Louis, Chicago, Augusta, and Indianapolis. They searched high and low for pieces that could fit in their program. One guy made enough of an impression is D1 Minnesota standout, J.P. Macura.
The Boilermakers already have a shooting guard in hand but more depth and a chance to steal away a top talent is something they couldn't pass up. Sunday night following the Adidas Invitation, the Boilermakers offered Macura.
"That's a big-time program. They have a great history and everything," Macura said when asked about Purdue prior to their offer.
J.P. Macura can do a lot of things with the basketball. His jumpshot is solid from most anywhere on the court and he brings a plethora of scoring ability. Macura is a high-energy prospect that has the ability and smarts to continue to progress.
Other schools like Butler, Minnesota, Auburn, Creighton, and Xavier are among his newest offers. Home-state Minnesota could be a contender but Butler is near the top even with the departure of new Boston Celtics Head Coach, Brad Stevens.
