This past fall, South Bend (Ind.) Adams athlete Shaq Vann did a little bit of everything in leading the Eagles to the sectional championship game and one of the best seasons the program’s had in decades.
Purdue was one of the schools to be excited by the 5-foot-10, 195-pound Vann’s production.
As a junior, Vann rushed for 721 yards and seven touchdowns while adding another 567 yards receiving and six scores. He returned a kick for a touchdown and could also play in the secondary on the next level.
On Sunday, Vann visited Purdue for junior day.
“The coaches showed a lot of love and so much interest,” Vann said. “I talked to the offensive coordinator Coach (John) Shoop a lot and my area recruiter. They were just telling me to keep in touch and gave me their number to keep in contact.”
Vann enjoyed everything about West Lafayette.
“I like how they set you up to be successful,” he said. “Which I mean in the classroom they help you every step of the way. They make sure you’re not just balling on the field but actually getting your work done which is big for me and my mom.”
Next up for Vann is a visit to Cincinnati on Saturday. Other schools showing interest includes Ball State, Indiana, Michigan State and Missouri.
