Purdue coach Danny Hope picked up commit No. 13 this weekend from prep school DT Ra-Zhan Howard.
Atlanta (Ga.) Sports Academy defensive tackle Ra-Zhan Howard gave his commitment to Purdue during his official visit to the Boilermakers campus this past weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Howard played his high school ball at Asbury Park (N.J.) High.
Seeing Purdue senior defensive tackle Kawann Short and what he's been able to accomplish in West Lafayette was the major reason why Howard said he pulled the trigger.
"Two words, Kawann Short," he stated. "Purdue needs me and it felt like family there."
Howard becomes the 13th commit for head coach Danny Hope and the Boilermakers in the class-of-2013.
In his final high school season at Asbury Park, Howard was the Class B Central Defensive Player of the Year, registering 68 tackles with 12 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.
