Thank you to everyone who has either registered or subscribed to The Black Hammer. We appreciate everyone’s support as we get going here at 247Sports. The first day has exceeded our expectations and we look forward to building a community of Purdue fans while providing you with complete coverage of Purdue basketball, football and recruiting.
As a thank you to those who have jumped on board with us, we have created a launch day badge. This badge will be available to anyone who registers or subscribes on this site over the next week AND replies to this topic and introduces themselves to the community. For example, tell us your connection to Purdue, how long you’ve been a fan, how you found out about either The Black Hammer or 247Sports and what you’re looking for from this site and community.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to hearing back from everyone. We’ll get the badge loaded and added to the profiles by tomorrow.
To show you what the launch day badge looks like, I've attached it to Eric's profile. It appears underneath his avatar photo.

i have been a long time supporter of purdue football going back to the agony (agase) days. to tell you the truth danny hope's last team bore an amazing resemblance. seen plenty of bad football. when i saw toledo hammer tiller's first team in the glass bowl i was thinking the irish would beat us by fifty the next week. as we know that didn't happen and qb mopping up at the end of the game took us (i was there) to the promised land.
as for the grateful boiler i always listen to jerry.
Glad to have you aboard Grateful.
We didn't get a launch day badge.
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
Tell Todd to get on it. lol
Todd's lazy , we had to convince the higher ups ourselves for the HBC badge and that's for the OT board.

Haven't done the badge thing before but love the idea. Lets get more people on this.
Graduated from Purdue in '07. Was not a fan of Purdue's prior to attending (I'm from PA originally), but I'm a diehard now. My older cousin went to Purdue and when I was 14, I visited Ross-Ade for their game vs ND. Saw one of Drew Brees' best games (the one where he flipped into the end zone to secure the win over ND). I'll admit that I follow basketball closer than football, but I'm excited by the Hazell hire and hope this staff takes us to a new level. I'm a twitter junkie and have followed the guys from The Black Hammer since they first launched that site.
I'm a Purdue alum and have been a fan since I can remember liking college sports. Favorite Boiler moment: witnessing in person the beat down of Notre Dame @ ND in '04.
I grew up in Lafayette but recently moved to Indy only to be bludgeoned nearly to death by the incessant IU rabble that is constantly in the air down here; culture-shock for sure. So when I heard about The Black Hammer being in the works I felt like I'd found an oasis in this vast desert of Bloomington butt-love and have been following since. I was happy to hear their hard work has paid off with this new partnership!
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents
Good seeing you on here Worly-bird.
'92 Engineerng grad moved to South Carolina about two years ago. All I hear is SEC and ACC dribble all the time. Gotta admit though I do have a soft spot for UGA Dawgs.
Favorite Purdue FB moment was in October of 2000 watching Brees bring us from the brink of death to knock off Ohio St.
Love my Boilers!
Been a fan since the late '80s. Went from '92-'96. Met my wife at Purdue. Hoping this site becomes a place where Boiler fans can discuss all things Purdue. Sometimes we'll agree. Sometimes we won't. Lets just always be cordial about it.
Graduated from Purdue in '02. Did not become a Purdue fan until I attended college. In fact, I grew up in a IU family near Bloomington, so was raised a diehard IU fan - especially basketball. After I arrived at PU I tried to support both schools, but it didn't take long to convert to a full-fledged PU fan. It didn't hurt that my Freshman year coincided with Brees' breakout Sophomore season. I moved to Los Angeles after school and I've been a follower of PU sports ever since. I keep up w/ PU sports mostly via twitter and heard about The Black Hammer through that medium. Mostly looking forward to recruiting news and objective conversation regarding PU basketball / football.
I'm a townie, born and raised in Lafayette. Graduated from McCutcheon and moved on to Purdue. Worked for Student Sports in Los Angeles for a summer between my freshman and sophomore years. Student Sports was then part of the Rivals network. They select the participants for the Elite 11 competition and developed the SPARQ formula that you see in camps, combines and even in video games. That was my introduction to the recruiting world.
Eric came up with the plan for The Black Hammer last summer, and we hoped to reach this level in time. We did not expect it to come this quickly. I would like to thank everyone that has read one of my posts and spread the word over the last half year to help us reach this point. Very appreciative of this opportunity provided by 247Sports, and we'll put in the effort to give you the best information each and every day.
Favorite Purdue moment was Porter Roberts and Justin Jennings coming to one of my basketball practices and signing 3-Pete posters. Well, not really my favorite Purdue-related moment, but the real stories are best reserved for off message board conversations.
The Black Hammer against the competition ->
Born and raised in Lafayette, gratudated from Purdue in 1997, season Basketball and football ticket holder. I love everything Purdue! BoilerUp!
Grew up in Ft. Wayne area. Graduated from Purdue in 2005. My dad's side of the family were huge Purdue fans with many attending the university. I enjoy both Purdue basketball and football, but my passion is for basketball since Football was dreadful for a long while in the 1990s. I have watched the basketball team since the 1990-91 season. Favorite Player is no brainer: Glenn "The Big Dog" Robinson. He was truly a superstar. Definitely one of the best college players I have ever seen. I remember vividly the 1994 elite eight loss to Duke. One reason I dislike the Dukies.
This is the one of best places for Purdue insight and discussion. Definitely needed more sites dedicated to Purdue Sports.
Hey Folks....grew up in the "Region" and graduated from Purdue in 2001. My wife and most of my in-laws are Purdue grads as well. I actually grew up an ND fan, and then once I attended Purdue, that's when I woke up!!! lol Love everything Purdue and I love taking my kids and family back to Purdue for games and such...I have actually converted a couple of ND sub-alums over and they are now Purdue fans! Can't wait to contribute to the site and I look forward to the Purdue talk.
Just want to say thanks to everybody that has signed up yesterday and today. You have all been great. Lets continue to build this into a great community.
I grew up in Royal Center, Indiana and have a been a boilermaker fan since 1955. Did not attend Purdue however. I spend 16 years coaching HS and collegiate basketball. While coaching at the University of Northern Colorado my only connection to Purdue was calling Fred Schaus about a 6'10" HS player at Denver East high school that was coached by my college roommate. They had not heard anything about him so I talked Fred into sending out an assistant to watch him. He did (33lpts, 21 reb). The rest is history (Joe Barry Carroll). I love to follow Purdue BB recruiting.
I graduated from Purdue in December 2003. I grew up in Mishawaka, IN and both of my parents both have degrees from IU. I became a Purdue fan in 1998 when I decided I would be attending college there. I have had season tickets for football and basketball since 1999 when I was a student. I am looking forward to talk Purdue sports and recruiting with other fans.

WHAT!? That's an awesome story.
Hey, I went to Purdue and graduated in '07. My whole family (brother two sisters, cousins) went to Purdue also.
Excellent post! Love hearing stories like this.
I've been a Purdue fan for as long as I can remember, being that I grew up in Monticello( just north of West Lafayette). Been a fan of football and basketball mainly, now I get to live the dream as I've been accepted to Purdue for this coming fall. Heard of the black hammer when I was searching Purdue blogs on google/twitter. Looking forward to hearing about recruiting news, and also adding in my two cents every now again from things I catch on campus this fall. BOILER UP!
